Yes I did leave my wife....for a day of photography! We have been in the Smokies for the last 2 weeks at a cabin without cell phones and internet connectivity. One day Karen wanted a day in the cabin for herself and I took the chance to get out with my camera and search for closeups of bears. Something my wife would not allow me to do...at least get this close to bears. She .... probably rightly so...does not want me to get too close to the bears but I just couldn't help myself. Dan

Dan, how exciting. Your adrenaline must have been rushing, pumping!!! Love that second shot with the leaves in it's mouth. The bear looks young :) What a wonderful experience!!! Hope that you checked for ticks when you were finished in the woods, I hear that they're thick in some parts.
