Hollywood has their iconic femme fatales. A femme fatale (plural: femmes fatales) is an alluring and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers in bonds of irresistible desire. Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, Jessica Walters in Play misty for me. Mother Nature has her femme fatale - Ice storms. In the Midwest, ice storms are at the same time beautiful and treacherous. Irresistible crystalline coatings that engulf the landscape. This post card like reality is deceiving. Mother Nature draws you in and holds you hostage until the sun frees you from her grip. While it is falling, enjoy it, later you pay.

yikes!
I thought the rain here was bad...
but lovely picture, and a beautifully written piece. So true. I like the femme fatale comparison.

Thanks we the pieces, I appreciate the comment. Ice storms are truly double edged swords!

Pretty, intriguing and (happily) so far away!

J,
I am guessing it is warm in Australia this time of year?

ish. Christmas can be anything between 55degF and 100degF - it is a very unstable time of the year, weatherwise. (Well, the whole year has been a bit unstable but that's a different story>)

chilly

This one looks too close to home, Dan ;o). Really though, we had a bit of this just a few weeks ago. Love the truth of what it is, it shows so well in this picture.

chilly, wet, ice (blah-haha)
