The hike up to Alum Cave Bluffs in the Smokies must have been visited by C.S. Lewis before he wrote the Narnia Chronicles. This is truly a fairytale land hearkening back to the beginning when only a footpath worn by fellow travelers crossing the mountains was the only sign of human visitors. The roots of the old tree have held open the path for hundreds of years. Around the bend from this vantage point is an opening to a grassy, rock strewn bald expanding the view for miles. The fire bushes lit my path as I trekked on towards the cabin at Mt.LeConte.

Sounds surreal. Beautiful but surreal.

This is like a fairy tale, just waiting to happen. Amazing texture and color.

I love it. It makes me think, what's around the bend...

J, Laura and we,

Thanks for the comments and we the pieces hit it on the head for me...I like to entice the imagination...it is musing on the unseen that sets us apart from the other species.

it reminds of an impressionist canvas

Sunny,

I find that many times a view of flora such as this lends itself well to the impressionistic genre...same thoughts I had as well. Thanks for visiting.
