I know this isn't a Spring like picture but I had an experience last evening that brought me back to the day that I took this picture last Autumn.

We had storms move through the area last night. With the storms came a driving rain that drenched the fields after somewhat of a drought. It was as if, the land drank in the water and in appreciation, put forth that wonderful musky, fresh air that invites you breathe to in as deep and long as you can just to take it in.

Last Autumn, while visiting my favorite stream, I got caught in a downpour. It left as quickly as it came. When the cold Autumn rain hit the still warm ground and water in the stream, the mist released that same fresh, clean smell. I am sure that you know that same fragrance laden air...that feeling that makes you just want to stay in the moment.

When that happens this Spring, take the time to enjoy the moment because it doesn't last long.

Beautiful post. I love the smell of rain. We get so caught up in life, we sometimes forget to stop and enjoy these things. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Heather,
It is hard for me to stop along the way as well. I make these reminders for me as well as readers of the blog!

Best scent ever! I can almost smell it just from reading this post...but it keeps getting mixed up with the smell of lotion wafting up off my little baby's head. :) That's good too. :)

I wish there was somewhere around here to take a picture like this...
There are streams...just there's no water in the streams...
Disadvantage of city living.....

I would love some of that crisp, fresh air...oh, do hurry :o). Right now, it's more of a musty, moldy air...(cough..cough).

Dan, you've got to take a look at GB's newest photo. This one really has some character :o).

Dani,
It has been years (my son is 23) since I have experienced that lotion scent but I remember it well! You are spot on...that smell is also great in it's own right!

Molly,
Good to hear from you. I think it often comes down to the fact that no matter where one lives (me included), we get used to those surroundings and other places seem more inviting. For myself, I would love to be able to walk out right now in 70 degree weather like you can and sit under the shade of a palm tree while looking out over the ocean. We all have those feelings of the grass is always greener. Hopefully for you, the Spring rains will fill those streams with water again.

Vermont Heather...
I checked out the car and it is a beauty! Reminds me of an old British headmaster at a stuffy private school! I love the hood ornament.

I remember many such moments after the rain, when the world glistened and seemed fresh and new! Lovely post and atmospheric photo, Dan!

Lynda,
Your photos of the same subject matter are beautiful as well. The ones from Italy are still my favorites as far as travel images.
