I am missing the mountains.

I don't know if I will make it back to the mountains this summer. So whenever I get the nagging in my gut to hear the sounds, smell the scents, feel the crisp air even in mid summer...I often go back to my photos.

A mountain stream is so refreshing. Both the rapid spring run offs and the calm gentle pooling of emerald green water in the lazy days of summer. It may just be a quirk of mine but I can literally sit for an hour or two next to a stream taking in all that is around me. Nothing changes, nothing moves except the water but there is just something about a mountain stream. Perhaps this is no big deal to those of you who live in an area where streams such as this are nearby. If this is the case...then I guess no matter how much I want to live in those areas...I should be glad that I don't...I never want to take mountains streams for granted.

I love those streams, too.
But I've learned the hard way how VERY slippery those rocks can be. :)

Heather...treacherous at times. The combination of running water for hundreds-thousands of years...moss...rounded edges...spells a broken bone if not careful!

Or at very least, a bruised ego. Haha :)

Cynthia...
You are lucky to live near a stream like this.

Can you believe that I've never been to a mountain stream? I'll have to put in on my destination to-do list. The photos are great. Funny how I thought of "eggs" when I first looked at the top one. I guess I'm hungry!

Oh man. Beautiful. We camped alongside a stream in Yosemite Valley. It was so nourishing for the soul.

Bobbi...

The rocks are slippery...better to view them than to step on them!

Septembermom...the top rocks do look like wild bird eggs! I never noticed! If you ever have the chance ...don't miss a stream.
