I often make the mistake while hiking of looking ahead or up at the beautiful trees.
So many times the earth below our feet is just as beautiful and intricate as the horizon. The yellow sifting of sunlight through the branches and underbrush shows splashes of gold on the green ferns and moss. A welcomed visit by old Sol helps the light starved residents of the forest floor remain as beautiful as the canopy above our heads.

Dan, this is simply a gorgeous textural shot!!!! I can feel and smell those ferns under my feet. Wonderful allover pattern (one of my favorite things, as you may have noticed).
I love ferns and foliage from nature walks. Great photo!
Lynda...I take that as a true compliment from the "TEXTURE GURU". Thanks so much.
Dan
Thanks Bobbi....have you recovered from the wedding?

Great photo! I took a photo of ferns on my hike last weekend, but didn't post it--just too blah. This one really shows the jewelry aspect of ferns-how wonderfully they sparkle and light up the forest.
Jennifer...
That is a neat comparison...Jewelry...in fact they are the jewels of the forest! Thanks for the metaphor!

I had to go back and catch up a lot on your posts today! Simply wonderful photos Dan! I love how you make them so dreamy and artsy. Some of them look like paintings or drawings. Breathtaking.
Dani...Welcome back to the blog! Hope you had a good getaway weekend. Thanks for taking a look at the photos.

A lovely bed of beauty under those trees. It takes an artist to notice the beautiful in usually forgotten spots. Such a pretty photo.

Ain't it the truth??? You're so right. I am so worried about looking ahead that I neglect what is underfoot. Thank you for the reminder!
Shabbygirl...
You have a lot of opportunities to observe the forest floor...I have seen your photos...now you have a whole new perspective to shoot the next time out in the canyons.
