The Afghan Girl
I have never posted a photo on my blog that is not mine...but the reaction to my post yesterday was overwhelming and I truly thank you for your comments. Kelly had mentioned "the girl on National Geographic". I am posting this link to her story. No comparison or parallels to my photo is intended...mine truly fades in comparison...but the story of the girl transfixed me as I read it...I saw the article several years ago but it remains one of the most intriguing articles I have ever read ...an article that every photographer....just starting or been doing it for years...relates to on so many levels.

WOW, what an intense article. Can you imagine? The life that woman and many, many others have lived...continue to live.
Thank you for sharing this link, Dan. I don't believe I commented on yesterday's photo...once again, the block thingy is coming up. I don't think that it has anything to do with your page b/c it's happened on others as well. If I can refresh before it pops up, I'm good to go.
It might be the new IE8 that I downloaded, still working on the glitches in it, they are...I think...I hope.
Anyway...your post thoughts and photo are felt, very touching.

Yes it is a very interesting story. I remember that cover story when it came out. I used to subscribe to National Geographic for the photos mainly. Hopefully now it is better for the women in Afghanistan than at that time.
I use Firefox for my browser but I have heard of problems with IE8...hopefully they will work out the glitches.

Dan, I remember this photo when it was first published. Her eyes were mesmerizing then, and still hold that understated power now. The current photo of her aged, to me, shows forth her intense anger and hardness. It's astounding.

You can tell that she has had a rough life but hopefully she has seen some positive changes as well...at least I hope so for her.
