Yesterday, I mentioned that New Harmony was a haven for artist who put pen to paper. The house above is one of several that are set aside for just this purpose. To give the artist a haven that cuts through the noise of everyday living...that lets the creative spirits flow unhindered by daily deadlines and other responsibilities. The video is of the tree I posted a couple of days ago...If you look at the window just to the right of the door in the Poets' House...the view you would see is this park with the children playing on the swing.

As bloggers, I think we all like to put electronic pen to paper...sometimes expressing our innermost feelings, sometimes to make a point about something that we believe in and sometimes to let our creative juices flow. How great it would be to have a week set aside to spend in the Poets House, look out onto the pastoral park setting and write to our hearts content. Not many of us will ever have that opportunity, but it is nice to think of the what ifs now and then.

Dan, I NEED to be there. A beautiful setting. I'm sure the Poet's House is an idealistic place of serenity and creative convergence. A place to get away from it all. I've never been to one of these but I can only imagine it's like a B&B for writers.

That is what Heaven is like, I'm sure of it. Children laughing, birds chirping, no hurry, no rush. Just imagine sitting at the window, writing a little story about those two swinging outside. Their dialogue, who they are, what they mean to each other.

Excuse me, I have to go write now.

I could use a Poet's House. I'm sure that amazing verse was composed there. The peacefulness and calm would be a wonderful muse. Great photo and post, Dan!

Pura...It would be great! Just to have that time undisturbed and not under any time crunch.

Also no need to thank me for stopping by...I am the one who benefits from your writing!

Thanks Tricia...I appreciate your kind words and the tree made a nice photo or video easy...it is perfectly shaped and almost a storybook tree.

Looks like a very good place for the purpose!

Back in the 90's, I often used to spend one week of my summer holidays going away on a creative course, either painting or writing. These courses were/are often held at boarding schools in beautiful surroundings. So for a few days you got to be creative AND see new places AND meet new people AND didn't have to bother about cooking etc. (What stops me now is I can't do "intensive" any more. I miss that.)

Imagine a week there. I immediately went there in my head! Beautiful photo.
I also imagine that a few times back & forth on that swing would bring some reminising and new stories.

Anna, New Harmony is just a little crook in the road but there is lots of history here and solitude!

Dawn Treader...you are so lucky to have had the chance to do this...I am sure it makes for great memories. Did you find it allowed for more creativity when you could set aside the business of life and concentrate on creative juices flowing?

Shabbygirl...most of us probably have some memory connected with childhood...adolescence and a tree swing! At least I do...it was in Bellville, Illinois and I was about 10 or so!

Kelly...thanks for your kind words. I was going to say that your parents may like this area as well and then I saw your other post and they have been here! I hope they enjoyed New Harmony.

Dan, yes, it used to be a creativity booster for me to get away on these courses; being surrounded by other people absorbed by the same thing, and not having to bother about much else for a week or so. I might write more about it at my blog some time.
