At Osage Creek near the Dairy Farm.
As I watched the cow coax the young calf out into the stream...it occurred to me that raising the young...whether animal or human is often about leading by example. She was at first nudging the calf to the water but it refused to take the hint so she ventured into the stream and then waited until her young calf slowly ...cautiously waded out to her. Once that was accomplished...the moved on together, the calf often bolting away from the protection of mom until it had realized what it had done and then just as quickly bolted back to maternal protection. I could have said the same words only replacing calf with child and cow with mom...the scenario would still be the same.
It served as a reminder to me that our children often watch us from a distance...mimicking our actions and examples. Let's hope the examples we provide deserve to be followed.

That's true. We as adults, as a whole, should be wary of our actions. Sometimes we do things without thought to who is watching us from a distance, esp. the children. They are very impressionable, they look to us for guidance....all of us...be it parent, teacher, police officer, etc. They are like sponges, open-minded, observing everything around them. Anyways, sorry to rant. This photo looks like an American painting.
I pray this daily, Dan :) and also ask that He design their memories to only keep what is good, what is for His use and to draw them closer to Him; even if it might be something I wouldn't want for them to remember.
Having three boys tends to pull every bit of patience from me; often times leaving me with nothing left when I've been there and done that with discipline....hooey, it's exhausting some days.
Lovely touches on the photo ;)
This is such a pleasant picture to look at; it really does look like a painting.
It's always a treat to see your posts.
Sunny :)
Nice post. Children need guidance and care from parents. It's sad that there are too many broken families out there.
She Poet...great comments and I totally agree. I am posting another photo early next week about children...at first somewhat disturbing but it makes a point that I feel very strong about.

Heather, from our interactions over the past year and seeing how much you are involved with your children's lives...you are the perfect example when I think of parents setting good examples for their kids!
Dan
Thanks Sunny...when I took the picture ...to me as well ...it was as if I was looking at a painting.

Lly...at first glance...it is a shame but at the same time...I know several single parents who are setting daily examples for their children. Thanks for sharing the comment.

I do wonder if my kids take in my more "explosive" or upset moments. They are like sponges for sure. I hope that they get the "good side" too! Great picture.
Septembermom...we wouldn't be part of the human race if we never "lost" it once in a while...children are very resilient I think.
Dan
Absolutely! You are so very correct. Also, a parent sometimes has to coax from ahead.
