During our visit to Missouri, we went to our yearly tradition of the Deutsch Country Days in Marthasville Missouri. I have posted about this festival before. If you like history and re enactments...be sure to visit the third week of October each year if you are ever in the area. It is the most wonderful festival of this type I have ever been to. For one weekend it is a working farm set in the early 1800's. Everything from a fully functioning wood shop that is run by a steam engine...you can see the heavy leather belts in the photo above running the equipment powered by steam to a completely restored log house with a narrative in each room to bring you into the time period. The proprietor of the log house was kind enough to allow me to photograph inside the house...thank you Stan.

I will post more pictures of the festival after Halloween.

Great photos! What went through my mind was that every kid should see what their ancestors had to endure to just live.

What a great place to visit. I love to see how things were done in days gone by.
There's a lot to be seen in your pictures, really interesting.
Sunny :)

Thanks for visiting, and to answer your question, my Son lives on Martha's Vineyard.

These are really interesting, thanks for sharing!

Dan - since you've shown interest before in things I've written about Swedish traditions, you might like to read my post re Halloween yesterday. Fair warning though: I'm so NOT in the same mood about this holiday as most Americans seem to be...

As always Dan these are wonderful photos.

Septembermom...I agree. It is unbelievable the quality of some of the old furniture that was produced with only steam power and hand work.
