The first week in October each year in Evansville is sacred. For the last 88 years, on the West side of the city in a small 4 block area called Franklin Street The "Fall Festival" is held...rain or shine. One week for the community that gives one the excuse to skip work, skip school, skip diets and participate in the annually highest attended event in Evansville.
I have lived several different places in my life...large urban centers and small country communities and it seems each has their own "Fall Festival". So for the next couple of days as I recount some of the happenings of our Fall Festival...I would be interested in hearing about your Autumn Celebrations.
Have a peaceful and relaxing Sunday!

Dan, thanks for the visit to the fair! Gorgeous shots.
Ooh, I love these!! Can't you smell the nacho cheese in the air . . . ?
Wow! I love all the colors! I'm smelling cotton candy!
Our annual happening is Art in the Park, where a couple hundred artisans sell their works.
I didn't go this year, but it is usually packed for the two days and people are sitting all around on the grass eating fry bread, sausages, kettle corn, drinking sodas & beer.
I can feel the excitement from those photos! So much fun :)
That middle shot made me twirly-whirly ready to get off that thing, Dan! Bluck :)
Thank you Scattering...I will be posing some "fun" facts about the street fair this Wednesday. Each community fair has their own "folk lore".
Dan
Merriam...you hit on a very appropriate topic about the nachos...I will be posting about the food at the street fair on Wednesday.
Dan

Septembermom...Cony Island it is not! But it does have some unique characteristics...I will be posting more about it this week.

I'm not really fairground person but but these photos are fantastic. They give an air of magic... I'm so impressed!!!
Dawn Treader...thank you so much...the first week in October in this area is always a treat. The only problem is that one eats like a pig for a week and then pays for it for the next 4!
Dan
Love these pictures, the second one made me dizzy!
My son is visiting so I'm behind on a lot of my blog reading.
