Last week, I witnessed one of the most incredible sunsets I have ever seen. I was on my way to photograph an old house...it was about 6:30 in the evening and we had rained on and off all day.

I made a turn off our main road away from the trees and was stunned..stopped dead in my tracks. I found myself looking at one of those images that as a photographer...makes you weak in the knees. All the elements were there...beautiful sunset, pastoral qualities of workers in the field, the sounds of the crows following the corn picker to scavenge any corn that the picker missed and the lighting was perfect. These circumstances don't come my way often but when they do...I'm in heaven!

To help relay the entire scene, I took some video of the scene as well. Mainly to capture the sound of the tractors and corn picker...also you can hear the cawing of the crows that I mentioned at the begging of the video. A phenomenon so common in the Midwest at harvest time. The iron contraption on wheels is the crow's best friend. No man made device is complete in efficiency and thanks to that human weakness...the crows know to follow close behind the picker and have the meal of a lifetime....as much corn as they can eat. I apologize for the wind noise...a videographer - I'm not.

By the way...I never made it to the old house...I will save it for another day. This was enough for one night.

Just spectacular! I loved hearing the birds in the backround. You've outdone yourself with the photos, too. Eye-knockers they are!

Thanks so much Shabbygirl...sometimes it just takes some video to help convey the moment. You husband should have been here with his video equipment! I remember the video he produced of the storm and lightening.

What an amazing sky, it looks like a painting. I was thinking to myself, "Is this real?" Despite the trucks, fields and people within the photograph. Nature never ceases to amaze with her spectacular display.

Septembermom...thanks...it was the most brilliant sunset I have ever seen. There were even pictures in the local paper. It was being in the right place at the right time...it only lasted a very brief time before the clouds dissipated.

The last shot is stunning. I can't stop looking at it. I love the small figure of the man in stark relief.
