Left standing alone today but so many times in their past ... they just fit the bill ... paddling off from the dock, you were two freshman just entering the world of high school. Unsure of yourself and so awkward at the most inopportune times.

Finally it was your chance to get some prime time with her or him...some time alone without all the trappings of the cliques and gamesmanship and turf wars happening at school. You both were finally on common ground. Heart pounding...mouth dry...you finally popped the question.

Paddling back to the dock...a new couple emerged...you were going steady. The first step towards finding your way in the world, learning the cues of courtship had begun. Years later you can't help but walk past this small lake on an October day with your family...and for a brief moment your mind wanders to a time so long ago...a day that began the journey that has come full circle. Your first love, long since gone out of your life...a friendship that only lasted through the Christmas Holidays..but it was a wonderful speed bump on the road to adulthood.

Dan, I absolutely adore the colors in this - and the big toys, too :)

Your work has such a dreamy quality, like I am stepping into a better version of reality. It makes me look at simple objects with a different set of eyes.
:)

I love love love these Fall colors. And, I would love to float along in the swan boat, with a thermos of coffee, and a book. :)

The photo has a soft quality, just like a memory. Perfect.

Heather...I was waiting for a real swan to swim over to the big one...but it didn't happen. It would have been a good comparison to the size!

Dan, I have to find out if there are these kind of lovely rides in Central Park. It would be a fun and soothing experience :)

Septembermom...with all the pleasures I have seen in Central Park...a true oasis among the frenzy...my bet is that paddle boats are on the lakes and ponds.
