Last Sunday I took a walk with camera in hand. For those of us who are landlocked in the Midwest...away from the mountain streams or ocean's shore...we seek out quiet walkways of our own.
On any given Sunday in this small Midwest town...solitude waits for us just as surely as the stream comforts or the lapping of the ocean's waves breaking on the shore puts ones mind at ease. This small town belonged to me that Sunday. Today, Tuesday and Wednesday I would like to take you with me as I walked down the leaf covered brick sidewalks...took in the musk drifting from the fallen leaves and the occasional scent of burning leaves drifting my way. The sound of the crisp leaves giving way under my footsteps assured me that Autumn had arrived. I crossed from one street to the other past the greenhouse and through the wooden gated doors to the street beyond... a maze of greens, limes, yellow and oranges were there to guide me down another brick sidewalk.
I always come away from moments like these relaxed, at peace and ready to face the week ahead. Each year, there is one day in each Season where everything is perfect...whether it is Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall...this day was that one perfect day in Autumn.

OMG...Breathtaking!! I have missed your photos...so soothing, calm and relaxed *sigh* Just what I needed to see. Hope things are well Dan :)
Dan, the top photo is just stunning.
Well done!
Beautiful photos, as usual. I don't get much time to stroll with my cameras. I am too pooped after working for the newspaper. But when I do have time I love to wander. I, too, come back refreshed.
I can hear the leaves rustle ... your pictures always leave a warm feeling in my heart.
Have you noticed we lost our friend ShePoet? Where did she go?
What a lovely walk down a beautiful, golden pathway!
;^)
Stunning Fall colours, what a lovely place to wander. ♡
Just beautiful Dan. Iconic Americana. Sigh. In the land of 75 degrees on Halloween, those images are mighty appealing.
Very beautiful colours. I love autumn!
Karrie! Great to hear from you again...looks like you have taken somewhat of a hiatus?? Thanks for the kind words and hope all is well with you.
Dan

Patty...it sounds likeyou have that same liberated feeling as well when you finally get the chance to get out by yourself with the camera with no other agendas. To bad it doesn't happen more often.
Dan

Jennifer...this is like old home week! There have been about 3 or 4 folks drop back by that haven't visited for a while and I am appreciative. Great to hear from you again. How is the teaching going? I am substitute teaching this year in English and French.
Dan
Lly...thanks for the kind words and I love Autumn as well...especially n the "peak" weekend. That has now passed for us...we have to wait now until next year!
Dan
Enchanting. I can hear the leaves crunch under your footfalls.
Did you have an urge to run a stick along the picket fence?
Sunny :)
Sunny...you are a mind reader! I was just reading a book last night written by the old Historian that I have posted about before on my blog. He wrote the book when he was 90..he is now 100 and he wrote of walking along picket fences as a kid...running an old broomstick along the fence and making the clacking sound!
Dan
A beautiful stroll with gorgeous results. Thanks Dan!
Thanks Septembermom...tomorrow we will visit the greenhouse.
Dan
Wonderful walk! Looking forward to more of the greenhouse.
Btw Dan, "Post-Halloween" I posted a slideshow of Moon Shadows today that you might perhaps enjoy having a look at even if they aren't high-quality pictures...
Dawn Treader...I like your slide show...good idea! The greenhouse tomorrow is just the front of it. I wish I would have tried to go in.
