The Christmas wreaths added an open invitation to the small country church near where I live.

This small church has been here for over a century...old by our standards...not so old by European standards. The congregation has always been from the surrounding farms and the names in Church on any given Sunday are family names that go back to the early days settling this area. There has never been TV or radio commercials touting the church for it's hip urban ways, the "What would Jesus do" slogans or electric guitars and keyboards blasting their way to the heavens in this church.

The doors open on Sunday and the pews are filled for each service Sunday after Sunday. A simple message is preached, the sick and dying are asked to be prayed for and no plates are passed...just a straw basket by the door...usually full of small bills and coins.

A simple message of redemption is offered for anyone who cares to enter and stay a while.

I don't know if I can say this, but there's something in the photo that's a bit disturbing. I think its the shadow of the trees around the door and the side bars on the step seems to be repeating.

The rest of the photo and its contrast is superb!

M. Thanks for the comment...at first after you pointed out the possible shadows of the rails on the steps, I was confused as well. I went back to the original RAW picture right out of the camera and enlarged it to see what was going on.

The point of view of the camera is somewhat confusing. There are two rails on each side. The rails are for those who need help getting up the stairs...one rail is mounted to the church wall and one is on metal posts going up the stairs. So the lines don't repeat...there are two on each side.

The picture other than color enhancing and a "dry brush" filter is not manipulated or nothing is cloned in. Hope that clears it up for you.

Dawn Treader...I am sure the age of the church seems quite young considering some of the old buildings you have post4ed in Sweden!
