Evansville has a large German Heritage and my wife is of German descent as well.
Each Christmas Season, the local German Association (Germania Mannercor) hosts a German Christmas Play and Dinner. The Old World is recreated both in food and festivities. The choir sings traditional Christmas songs in German of course and it is a magical night. It is an activity we look forward to each Christmas. For that one night we are taken back to a snowy starlit German village with vising carrolers to the tables and an appreciation for Christmases past.

I would love to be there! My husband and I are both of German descent, his is much closer than mine but we shared many family traditions. That first shot is amazing.
I have PSE8, just got it and haven't put it on the computer yet. I used to have PSE5, but will be replacing that. I would love to know any books you have to suggest!
It sounds like a very enjoyable night out, Dan.
What an amazing night of culture and song. I love those kind of experiences. Great pictures Dan.
Wunderbar! What a fun event. My husband is of German descent and we try to keep some of the family traditions going.
Your pictures are really excellent, as always.
Sunny :)
Rebecca...Thank you. Also...I might suggest a book that was written for the full blown Photoshop but about 90% of it would apply to Photoshop Elements as well.
It was truly a breakthrough book for me. The name of it is : The seven point System by Scott Kelby. You can see it at Borders or Barnes and noble or Amazon as well. If you follow each of the projects through...you will learn how to "Paint with light" and Paint with filters...a great book that will really help in understanding masks, and layers. Check it out before you buy it to make sure it would apply to you.

Heather...it makes for a great night year after year...always a different German play of some type pertaining to old German Christmas celebrations.

Septembermom...yes it is a night that we look forward to each year.

Sunny...that is interesting...British and German...a great combination! My ancestors are British and Irish (Felstead and Mcbride). I understand there is a Felstead England. Maybe I should move there and run for Mayor!

Looks like wondrous fun!

Cynthia...it was!

Thanks for the book reference I will check it out! See what I can learn.
Dan, I drug my husband and 6 of our friends to this very event several years ago. We were all in our late 20's and early 30's. Let's just say it wasn't their thing. Ha ha. I loved the feel of it, and thought it would be something fun we could all do together as a new tradition, but have to say the (probably) authentic meal was not real appetizing and while I enjoyed the play it was not Cats... haha But I still enjoyed myself. I still get ribbed about that evening and am not allowed to make plans for our group any longer. oh well.
Jaime..LOL! It seems you either love it or hate it! Actually I have found the food to be great but I really like German food. I know what yo mean about the plays...not being CATS!
Did you get your telephoto lens or is it a Christmas pre4sent?
