I had posted the second picture earlier on the blog. As I was reviewing photos from the day at the re enactment...I realized had another image of the couple.The image that originally caught my eye was the mother and daughter walking away and how they were in step with each other. I didn't realize that I had also captured them earlier in the day doing their wash. You can see the same washtub in both pictures.
This was a good comment on how the the children at the time all had their chores to do...no matter how young...not a bad piece of advice to follow today!

You are so right! I believe that it is the very problem with today's youth. No responsibility, although in certain circumstances, with no responsible parent, they are struggling to keep it all together. We want them to be happy, we cater to them, but fail to teach the reality of life.

Beautiful photos Dan and you are right, children should be taught that it is a good thing to share in the chores that need to be done,they are a part of the household and it teaches them to be confident, responsible and self reliant as they grow older. ♡

I think my mother gave me chores the day after I was born! Ha-ha!

Sunny...that is a great idea...I will pass on chores to Scooter as well! She is quite good a making a mess...now to teach her to clean up.

You should see my sons' raise their eyebrows when I talk about any kind of chores. I do think it's a sign of the times when kids are so resistant to any kind of real work or labor. It's a leisure obsessed generation. Wait until they have to earn a paycheck!!

First of all, I'm very curious to know where you found those beautifully dressed people on your photos.
Secondly, I'm really curious about your HDR technique. Do you shoot multiple times, or shoot once and process it with a particular software?
I really love your HDR work. The colors are beautiful and subtle.

M...thanks for asking. I use Photomatix Pro HDR software (you can Google it). I do both techniques. It is best if you have the opportunity to take the pictures...underexposed by 2 stops, normal and overexposed by 2 stops and then merge them. From time to time I will adjust the exposure of a single shot in Lightroom to the under and over but it works best with three separate digital negatives merged together.
Once merged in Photomatix...I export to Photoshop and make final adjustments. They always need adjusting after merging...too much blue or over saturated colors etc...

Well, I do it differently. I only use Lightroom. Google HDR in Lightroom.
M. Yes I have tried HDR in Photoshop but I couldn't get the results I wanted...that is why I went to Photomatix. I did not know that HDR from Lightroom was possible...I will check into it...Thanks!

Yes its possible, but not as perfect as HDR with exposed and under-exposed photos, but it works well.
