Last Wednesday a storm front was moving across the country. It rolled through Southern Indiana around 7 in the morning. Usually when this happens...there are some good cloud formations and sunrises or sunsets...this was the sunrise that I woke up to.
I watched as the clouds rolled in but before they completely blocked out the sun...I was treated to a firestorm of colors. It reminded me of those videos of Southern California when the brush fires ravage the hills. The show didn't last long but while it was here...it was spectacular!
We ended up with 50 mile an hour winds but that was about it...no snow yet. I see from the blogs out East, Northeast and even out in Arizona...snow has arrived. I am still waiting!

Beautiful!! ...when I looked at the photo I immediately thought of the brush fires. That sky was intense! We experienced the wind storm too. Wasn't quite as bad as the one that ripped through in Sept 08, but it was bad enough. Lots of people lost their electricity through the day and evening.
Wow, at first I thought we had a barn fire, glad it was just a great sunrise, nice capture! The storm hit here also, 15 inches of snow. Welcome to winter...
Amazing! It does look like fire in the sky. Beautiful barn.
Sunny :)
It does look like a firestorm! I love those moments when I'm wonderfully surprised by a sunrise/sunset. Such a gift!
Really spectacular colours! We got some snow here today - I posted some pictures from snowy Santaland on my Island blog today if you want to get in the right mood to play your part next week! ;)
Kelly I remember that September 08 storm that went through. I was stuck in the Louisville airport...they even had to shut it down and if I remeber correctly...they shut down Cincinnatti also.

Glen...15 inches of snow! WOW...but I bet there were some great pictures!
Dan
Thanks Sunny...now all we need is some of that New England snow.
Dan
Thanks Shabbygirl...it wasn't unlike some of your Arizona sunrises and sunsets!
Dan
DawnTreader...I am on my way to check it out.
Dan
Wow! The sky on fire. It's an incredible shot. How do you get such clarity in your pictures, Dan? They're unique.
You are more then welcome to have some of our New England snow..lol! We here along the water haven't seen much more then a dusting but inland is another story.
That picture is just amazing! Doesn't Mother Nature paint the most beautiful scenes. Love it!!
One word:
FLAWLESS!!
The sun looks like fire behind the house and its amazing.
Valerie...thank you. For the majority of my pictures I use a process called HDR (High Dynamic Range)...taking 3 shots of the same image...one underexposed, one normal and one overexposed and merge them together. This gives the clarity and detail.
Dan
Karrie! Good to hear from you and before I forget...Merry Christmas!
Send that snow our way! I will probably feel quite different the minute a big one dumps on us!
Dan
Thank M....the sky was perfect for a picture.
Dan
Firestorm is exactly what i thought too!
Rebecca...firestorm seems to be the consensus!
Dan

Dan
Thank you Valerie...Now if I could just write like you, I would be set!
Dan
wow. OMG! wow.
gorgeous, gorgeous color!
What draws me the most, for some reason, is the texture and color of the roof. I want to live in that building ;-)
WOW! Beautiful! Amazing colors!
;^)
Jean...I liked the green roof as well. I don't see many barns with green roofs.
Dan
Thanks Cynthia...sunsets and sun rises are great moments to capture.
Dan
