OK...I will stop whining now about no snowfall as yet in our neck of the woods.

It snowed overnight. I know for you all up East or North...this is old hat by now but as you may remember the thrill of the first snowfall of the year...we had ours last night. I was downtown at dusk in the old part of town where I have taken many of the old houses that I post on the blog. The silent falling snow had not yet turned black from dirty tires or salt trucks. So the beauty of snow was all around me. The street lights gave off enough warm glow to take sooth the sting of the winter wind.

I love the countryside after a new snow but there is also something to be said about city streets before they are soiled by the tools of our modern world.

For those who are understandably tired of the snow by now...thanks for allowing me to post another image not unlike you see everyday!

lovely pics, do you think most of your readers are in snow stricken states? I'd say it might be 50/50 who knows. I do know that I like snow for a short time, but this frigid temperature stinks!

There is something about a house with a porch, wicker furniture and falling snow that I love. It's just so welcoming.
I like your street scene too.
Keep warm and enjoy your snow.
Sunny :)

The pictures are beautiful, Dan. And I do agree there is something very special about snow that is yet "untouched" - something which in town does not last long. I've been out with my camera too just after snowfall to try and catch it, although I otherwise tend to mostly complain about the cold ;) According to the morning newspaper we're having the coldest winter in 23 years here which is also what I would have said from my own memory. One problem it brings is you can hardly stand to be without gloves for as long as it takes to take a couple of photos!

Beautiful. Although, I have to be honest and say that I am NOT sad about the lack of snow here.

Dawn Treader I have felt the same experience. When I took the picture of the grain elevator...I didn't have my gloves and it was brutal! It is probably hard on the camera as well.

Getting tired of my snow, but I always enjoy looking at yours.
Hope you don't mind,
but I mentioned you in my post today.
Perhaps it will send some viewers your way.
Best,
Glen

The first one is so vibrant! The second reminds me of a beautiful Christmas card.

Vermont Heather! Thanks and the first one is my favorite as well...it was just a small little house stuck in between some of the old reworked mansions downtown. I think it hold up well against it's competition!
