Porches still peak my curiosity.

It has been a while without a porch post and I cam across this one taken last Summer. What caught my eye with this porch was the different vertical and horizontal lines. The fence with the bricks and the posts along with the angled lines of the gingerbread trim made for a very busy picture but the warmth and light of the inside lamp helps cut through all the busyness and draws one inside.

I occurred to me that life is often like that. So much going on all round us and when that one personality draws near...they cut away the noise and draw you in...I can't put my finger on it but I would love to know what that trait is about some people that allows them to unconsciously attract you without even trying?

Interesting picture, and interesting thoughts!
Indeed a lot "going on" in this picture - I noticed the porch first, then the fence/gate, then the open door...

You have a way of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary!

I love all the elements to your picture, the detail in the porch, the fence and the reflections in the door. You have such a good eye! I think that trait is called charisma.

There is, indeed, something about this porch (and certain people) that draw us in and make us feel at ease. Beautiful photo and intriguing thoughts... if you figure out what it is, let me know. I'd love to have that kind of personality :)

I do love this photograph! I think it's a warmth of a person. you have that right here in your writing. We all feel it. We're all drawn in. :)

I see from that small part of the house... the porch... it's heart open wide for all to come in and take pleasure from while its warmth comforts the coldest soul.

Sunny...thanks I appreciate the comment but I think it is no more than being aware of one's surroundings.

Heather...I would like to know that secret as well but I have (as I am sure you have)known people like this that when they walk in the room...you almost feel drawn to them. Nothing special on the outside but there is something there.

Thanks Cynthia but as I said above...it is no more than just taking in one's surroundings.

Indrayani...I use two cameras for most of my work...A Nikon DSLR for telephoto work (300 mm lens) and a canon G9 for the HDR photos.

Unfortunately, nothing yet and its only getting worst. Just sold the camera that I saved for 2 years to get for half the price, just to pay my bills.

But life is such.

Dan, I had to take a closer look, are those faces reflected in the glass door? Again really nice!

M...I hate to hear that...2009 was a rough year for so many of us...hopefully 2010 will allow you to buy back the camera! Here is hoping.

Glenn...thanks for checking back! I looked at the picture and I see shrubs and a stop sign but I didn't see any reflective faces...I could have just missed them.
