Last year I had taken a picture of the farmhouse and included it in a post. I wanted to include the barns this time as well.
To me...this is the quintessential Midwest farm with it's
summer kitchen behind the house so typical of the Midwest homestead. The summer kitchen was usually added out of practicality. Farm families were usually large and it was too hot in the Summer to cook in the house so meals were prepared and the butchering was done in the summer kitchen. There is nothing out of the ordinary about this house or these barns and I think that is what makes it so appealing. Set in the middle of the fields...surrounded by the land that supports it's family. Just a one car lane leading to the house and a couple of electric poles bringing light and warmth. I am certain that the farm existed long before the electric poles were there.

This is a really beautiful winter picture. I just love that shade of blue in the sky, and the light around the lamppost...
You can feel the crisp silence of winter. A beautiful image.
Sunny :)
i like the glow the light post emits against the blue sky, and the definition of everything.
(:
The whole farmhouse is beautiful, and like the others have said the glow from the lampost is lovely set against the amazing blue of the sky.
I think I would like a 'summer kitchen' myself.
Dan dear, I would love to see a summer photo when the farmhouse is surrounded by the colours of its fields. :) ♡
Thanks Dawn Treader...even in the winter which I am tired of...this house always gives me pause to stop and take a picture.

Sunny...it was very quiet when I took this picture almost to dark to get a good image.

Molly...good to hear from you again. The light tells me that evening chores were just beginning on this farm...at a time that most of us were returning home...they were just beginning.

Dianne...I am sure that I have a summer picture of this farmhouse. I will look for one..if not..I will take one again in the spring and summer.
