Cardinals, Robins, Blue Jays and Squirrels playing football?

Last Saturday was a banner day for critters to greet the new Spring Season.

Birds were in abundance and a squirrel even posed in a 3 point stance....looking eager to play football in the warm weather! Check out the link above if you aren't up on your sports terms. For the first time this year I also saw daffodils poking their yellow hats up through the ground.

I can remember back in early Autumn...I was looking to the northern folks like Sunny, Vermont Heather and Dawn Treader for the first signs of Autumn foliage since it hit in those areas weeks before the Midwest. Guys...I am returning the favor...Spring is arriving here and I will be giving you some early previews.

And YES..thank goodness spring is here... or at least it's here in theory. Today is windy and cold. Saturday was 76 and sunny though, and our day at the lake was lovely :)
Now, if it would only STAY like that for awhile!!

Hahaha that first shot is really funny! It looks like the squirrel is actually trying to play football. Great photos!

These images are spectacular! That squirrel made me chuckle quite heartily - what a little cutie!
As for our feathered friends they are just plain beautiful! Often have I wished that my colouring was naturally as vibrant as theirs; us humans are such drab creatures in comparison ;-)

Leah...thanks! Nothing like a squirrel with personality!

Sunny...I knew you could do it! You have transformed my football playing squirrel into a little furry creature who is p@#$sd off about losing his acorn! Thanks for the comment!

S. Barbie...there is one place where humans are still colorful...we used to live in Louisville and every year at the Derby...it was tradition that women wore their best and most outlandish hats for the event. It often reminded me of these types of colorful displays!

I think the squirrel is doing an imitation Jack Palance doing his one-armed push-ups on the Academy Awards. LOVE the Cardinal shot!

Scattering...he sort of has that Jack Palance look! Great description.
