Oh, yes. It's the eyes. Fascinating...mesmerizing...all of these are unique, but even the softer ones have an intensity. I had not seen the little girl at the top before if you have posted her. I love that one.
;^)
Also, the last one...don't think I've seen him either. This collage has your stamp all over it!
I always...yes ALWAYS....look at eyes first...on people, animals and yes cars...(my family laughs at me about the headlights) but I have always done that!
I do believe as you have evoked, a sense of the inner soul can be found there...at least we attempt to find that connection.
Great photographs!
Definitely - I think the eyes are what draw us in. They can tell such a story, and often reflect deep emotions that people otherwise wouldn't express.
Each and every one is beautiful. The second photo is a little unnerving for me for some reason.
The eyes are where the emotion is. Great post!
"The eyes are the mirror of the soul" - or "windows of the soul"
I tried looking for the origin of the proverb, found no certain answer but references to Latin, French and Yiddish. We have same saying in Swedish.
Thanks Cynthia and you are very perceptive! Both photos you mentioned are ones that I have not posted before...thanks for noticing!

Muse I am glad that someone else notices care headlights! I can't look at a car without forming it into a face! I think it is a psychological quirk of mine!

Thanks for your comment Heather and I like your new avatar!

Shabbygirl...I am right there with you...the look on that ape's face (the first one) tells me he knew exaclty what I was doing and wasn't too happy with it.

Dawn Treader...here is what I found:
EYES ARE THE MIRROR (MIRRORS) OF THE SOUL -- "A person's thoughts can be ascertained by looking in his or her eyes. The proverb has been traced back in English to 'Regiment of Life' (1545). But the proverb was known much earlier. Cicero (106-43 B.C.) is quoted as saying, 'Ut imago est animi voltus sic indices oculi' (The face is a picture of the mind as the eyes are its interpreter). The L*tin proverbs, 'Vultus est index animi' or 'Oculus animi index,' are usually translated as 'The face is the index of the mind.' The French say, 'Les yeux sont le miroir de l'dme (The eyes are the mirror of the soul). 'The eyes are the window of the soul' is a variant form of the proverb..." From "Random House Dictionary of Popular Proverbs and Sayings" by Gregory Y. Titelman (Random House, New York, 1996).
I think that is such a true saying...

Eyes always capture my attention whether it's in a photo or a painting. Great photos Dan! Terrific post idea.
Cool collection! I love eyes - they always say much more than words.
