Competitor

Competitors come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes when you decide what the composition of a photograph should be...step out of the box and try new perspectives.

If this photo were taken out of context...different people could interpret it in different ways. There is no bicycle in the picture yet we know she is competitor by the number on her back. By her pose...she could be a roller blader or a skateboarder...maybe a racer in a bike race. Often what is not in a photograph is what makes it more interesting...it helps draw the viewer into your world and let's them help interpret the image.

Bravo, Dan! This is an amazing shot and I do agree that the best photographs are those which leave just a little bit to the imagination.
I can't find the quote right now but Ansel Adams said something about the most important part of a shot being the part which is left out and your image demonstrates that beautifully.

Oh definitely a great effect!

Thank you for the kind words HazyDaisy. And yes Ansel is my favorite photographer. No one can bring a black and white photograph to life like
Ansel Adams.

I really like the feeling of speed in this picture. The colors and movement are exciting, like watching a race.

Thanks Sunny...it is strange with bicycle racing...since there is basically no sound as they pass by...speed is often hard to judge.
