It was time to revisit the Haynie's Corner area of Old downtown Evansville.
I would guess that something approaching 98% of all of the old buildings down there are made of brick. I am certain that the area where you live has old brick buildings as well. Even the "Three Little Pigs" knew of the staying power of bricks. Where else can you go today and actually touch and see something man-made that was mentioned in Genesis?
As we all know, Genesis begins at the time of creation...that is about as far back in history as you can go! Bricks are mentioned in the Genesis narrative. Straw, mud, limestone, concrete...the squared off sides of a brick lend itself to building a strong foundation and facade and still serve that purpose today. Other than an earthquake (brick structures don't fare well in earthquakes) about the only thing that is an enemy to the duration of a brick building is time itself.

Gorgeous! Been in too many earthquakes to feel overly comfortable in a brick building, but I love the look of them.

This is such a wonderful group of pictures. Brick buildings have so much character.

I like brick buildings too. I find the variation in colour fascinating, every brick is a little different from the others.
