Happy Labor Day

The warm Summer evenings that bring neighbors together over the fences and on front porches have come to an end ...at least by tradition in the United States. With the arrival of Labor day...school begins anew, swimming pools are winterized, day lilies are replaced with a tied together stack of corn stalks and room is made for a display of pumpkins.

A new conversation begins...talk of Autumn colors and the holiday season of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Even the neighborhood dogs seem to be saying their last goodbyes before returning to the fences of winter. For me it is the end of glorious bright days and tending the garden or photographing the Summer festivals but it is also a time of anticipation for the wonderful Season that is approaching. The Season of fragrance...cinnamon, apples, musty whiffs of burning leaves and the smell of wood fires boiling black pots full of apple butter.

Have a great Labor Day!

Dan
