This is a post from blog blog back in 2008. I wanted to repost it today on Thanksgiving 2012. Have a warm and happy Thanksgiving Day.
Dan
The day before Thanksgiving. Thoughts of loved ones, a gathering, friends who blended into the ether years ago but shared a significant part of my life are occupying my mind as I pass by the church. I stop to frame the contrasting green against the blue. The lingering at the church however became much more than another photograph. Through a telephoto, I noticed the door ajar. I packed up my equipment, and headed to the car...had to run some last minute errands and stop by the store on the way home. I turned around and passing back by the church, the image of the open door flashed across my mind..."the errands can wait" I thought as I parked and walked into the empty church. Amid the last rays of sunlight diffusing through the only stained glass window, I gave way to my thoughts. For the first time in my life, I gave thanks for my loved ones and the friends lost so long ago. Thanks for even the opportunity to be in this church and to whoever left the door ajar as an invitation. It really felt good.
Even though this took place a few Thanksgivings ago, I would like to take this opportunity and thank the early followers of my blog for the comments and support during it's short lifespan. Let's meet here next Thanksgiving to talk again.

I am so filled when I look at your photos and writing. It's good.
When I read that you ever so cleverly noticed the door slightly open...I could almost hear the invitation to come rest with Him; if only for just a moment.
(I'm so glad you did)
So am I!

Beautiful photograph.
The picture has a wonderful tonal quality to it.
Do you use filters on the camera, or add the effect, digitally or otherwise, later on?
Beautiful!

Sacha,
Good hearing from you...I do not use filters. I used to with the film medium of course but now I add the filters with Photoshop.

What can I say? Damn, you're good. :-)
P.S. the person from Kuwait who's been reading my blog appears to be reading yours too, looking at your ClustRmap.
I wish they'd get in touch.
