To the visitors and followers of my blog, I want to wish you a Happy Valentines Day. A holiday very private to some and to others it is celebration for everyone to see. However you choose to spend the time...It is my wish that it is a very satisfying and meaningful special event for you.

For those of you who may spend this day alone, know that there are many, many others who are solo as well. We adopted 23 years ago. Before that time there were several Mother's Days that passed...a time when mother's were celebrated for their special talents as they should be but to us it was only a time that reminded us of what was missing in our lives. It became a day of sadness and confusion instead of celebration. So I find myself very sensitive and understanding of the person who because of complicated relationships or love lost find themselves alone while others celebrate.

As we found out...as will you...this human condition is as much about timing as it is individual effort. Your time, your soul mate, your connection is out there...it just may not be the time for whatever reason...Keep the faith and know that we are celebrating the holiday with you.

Your compassion flows through in these words, Dan. My dad is spending his very first Valentine's Day without my mother today. I could see/feel his emotion beginning a few days ago.

Thank you for honoring all who may have lost and all who haven't found their Valentine.

May your heart be blessed ♥!

Heather,
I lost my mother in 1999. That first year is the most difficult...each holiday is a trigger point bringing back the memories. There is just no way around it.
