The end of a long winter's day comes with an encroaching storm. In the morning the winter's transformation will be complete. One of those storms that is between rain and wet snow. The Midwest sees this wet heavy snow each March and sometimes in April. It is as if the winter is trying its best to hold its steel cold grip but the oncoming Spring's newborn warmth slowly melts Winter's resolve.

FYI...the next time "A league of their own" shows up on the reruns...you might want to watch for this old farmhouse. I live close-by and they used this house for the home place of the Pitcher and catcher (the two sisters) in the movie. There are both inside and outside scenes of the house in the movie.

ChicGeek,
Thank you for the comment...I actually took this photo last winter a year ago but today's weather here in the Midwest put me in that yearly struggle between Winter and Spring. Last week it reached 80 degrees (warm for this time of year) and this week snow is again predicted.

well, this'll be a bit shorter...
You folks down south have a better chance at the 'pretty' of this system, but up here, dang! No snow, but, plenty cold!

the lion is sneaking in mid-month! OK with me if it goes to the lamb quick enough!

Ditto Boneman! I am ready for Spring more than I ever have been.

Firstly, I like this photo. Secondly, that is so cool - the bit of movie history with it. Kinda makes me want to go rent the movie, just to see the house :o).

You know...this seems so dimensional, so....
Reach into the scene and feel snow falling on one's hand.
Very good photo, sir!
(It kept ghosting in my mind, I had to come back....)

Heather and Molly,
A lot of the film was made in Evansville. Molly...no big deal to you...living in LA! But to us in a medium sized Midwest town...to have Madonna, Rosie and Hanks live here a while was a treat! Although Madonna hated Evansville (can't imagine why!). Many of the smaller venue ball parks in the movie are around Evansville. The old house in the picture is now abandoned but it now has a lasting place in history!

Beautiful picture!
But I also love that whole first paragraph. It perfectly captured the in-between-ness of this time of year.

Shabby Girl,
You can almost feel the struggle of nature trying to move forward then loosing ground, then finally letting go and being reborn.
