A black car is a power car.

It might be the Batmobile or a bootlegger's car running liquor to the speakeasies of the late '20. Black has typically been the color of police cars or Men in Black patrolling area 51. Black is all about mystery and intrigue. The black rear fender shown here was so shiny with it's multiple coats of lacquer...it even refelcted me and my tripod!

The driver's Ipod playlist might include:
Theme from Batman
The Bond Theme
Tobacco Road
Maybeline
Smoke gets in your eyes
Ode to Billie Joe
Black is Black

His DVD player might be showing:
Batman Returns
The untouchables
Capone
The Godfather
Casino Royale
Men in Black
The X files...Season Finale

His last known Tweet from Twitter:

Ok, not being much of a car person, I have to say - I am really enjoying these photos!

I never saw how cool cars can be - and that they do indeed have personality and attitude...

Jen...Thanks. Agree...they do have their own personalities and I think Detroit does it on purpose.

My husband has only bought black cars for the past 10 years. Wonder if he thinks he's Batman? Like the reflection photo. Cool shot.

Septembermom...LOL...that is hilarious! Thanks for the comment.

As always I love your photos! Thanks for dropping by :) Your narrative was funny, and the photography is stellar. Love the reflection, so handsome. You definitely made cars look sleek and sophisticated, I will never look at Michael (my Chevy Malibu) the same way again, even though he's charcoal.

My daddy really liked this one!

Thanks for the comment and stopping by...I can see that you have a close relationship with your car! I have to say I have never heard of a car named Michael! I had a college roommate who named his dog Robert so I can understand these close relationships!

I can imagine that our dad probably worked on the ones like the middle picture...it is a 1946 model.

I'm also not much of a "car person," but those cars are seriously cool. I like the one with your reflection. Happy accident or on purpose?

Dan Felstead said...

Sabrina...

Thanks for the kind words even though "CARS" may not be your thing! The reflection was an accident I must admit...otherwise I would have "struck a pose"!

I'm blushing! Actually the "self-portrait" was an accident!

OMG, incredible work! The cars themselves are wonderful, but your technique and processing makes each image a work of art.

Dan Felstead said...

Mary,
Thank you for the kind words. I make no bones about it...my photos are heavily post processed. That is the style that fits me best. I like to take a photo and try to recapture the emotions or back story that was present at the time I took it. Sometimes it takes that additional post processing to tell the story.

I'm liking this side of you, Dan...really cool.

I also like the photo of your reflection...a man size version of Dan :) - not just a head to see. And you looks so Photographer-ish...hahaha (OF COURSE)

These are great...you know how I feel.

Thanks Heather....is photgrapherish a word???? LOL. As far as the reflection of myself...I look much older than I am...I am only 26.

I have to go now...late for confession!
