It's an "Oklahoma Sky"!
One of the followers to the blog ...Cynthia (from Oklahoma)...will be surprised to hear this phrase. Here in Southern Indiana...you hear this said about threatening skies. I suppose because of Oklahoma and tornado alley.
On this particular evening, the heat had been building all day. White puffy clouds gradually turned to black/gray as the humidity increased. Part of the sky was still blue but the onslaught of bad weather was eminent. The orange setting sun and shadows cast by the ominous clouds however created perfect picture conditions. The long shadows highlighted the age of the barn and the newly cut grass. Just to the west...left of the picture...the clouds were gathering and a soaking was in the works.

Simply stunning.
WOW DAN!!! This is awesome! This has everything! Looks like the barn is on fire, and yet so cool and refreshing on the other side! Fantastic!
Thanks Tricia...I noticed that Adrian on your blog yesterday was describing HDR photography...this is HDR as an example.

Thanks Shabbygirl...
The sun that night reminded me of the fire red sunsets up in Sedona...I am sure you have seen those...truly beautiful.

PS another very cool photo. Well done!
Awesome. It also brings to mind "Auntie Em, Auntie Em....."
Gorgeous! The colors are fantastic, and the contrast in the sky on either side of the barn? Wow.
I love the contrast of colors in this picture. It's really very pretty
(:
Sacha ...
I visited the website and the photos are phenomenal...I don't know if everyone has the same love of an HDR photo as I do but I can look at them all day!
Dan
Scattering...maybe it should be titled "A Kansas Sky"!

Heather as always...thanks for the kind words.

Terrific photo! I really like it. You can really feel the sense that something will "be blowing in" soon.
Septembermom...
It did! Shortly after the picture was taken.

Another great barn! I bet the attachment on the left hand side was probably a stripping room. Boy, do I have memories of stripping rooms!
Bobbi...I'm not sure but it is possible...Tobacco is grown around here but not as much as in your area.
