This past weekend was a real departure from our normal July humidity and heat. The clouds normally storm clouds were not at all menacing. We were treated to extreme clouds all weekend. Beautiful skies invited highs of low 70's...unheard of here in Southern Indiana this time of year. It seemed as though all of the weather was trapped above me and only the cool crisp air was allowed to escape from the firmament.

It echoed the coming Autumn...but as Robert Frost said..."I have miles and miles to go before I sleep"....We have August yet to contend with.

Surreal feel to this photo. This is one of my favorites. You're right about waiting to see what August has in store for us. Hopefully, not TOO hot:)

sure enough, sometimes I make my videos with still pictures, and that's OK...if I have a few.
Turns out the other day I wanted to make a quickie with storm clouds and it turns out I didn't have near as many as I thought.
HA!
so, my gig for the rest of summer is to collect the inky blacks and grays of impending storms.

I love what you've done with the clouds here... the color enhancement helps bring out the mood of the clouds...

I'm glad they were relatively harmless clouds and could bring a little relief from the Southern Indiana heat. Have a great weekend! :)

P.S. I found it a little ironic that the word verification for my comment was shining... :)

Miss H...how appropriate...Shining!

Thanks for the comment and yes...other than somewhat cloudy...the temperature was great with no storms!

...beautiful--and dramatic! We had the same weather. I love having the windows open in July and hearing the birds as the breezes blow in. I wonder how long the cooler weather will last...

Kelly...it seems the whole Midwest was blessed with this strange weekend...strange but welcomed!

What an amazing sky! The natural canvas all around us is certainly beautiful. You know how to capture the right moment. Wish I had my lawn chair, I'd sit out there all day and stare. I'm scared of August...

Dan Felstead said...

Pura...that is a good way to put it...I agree but I am also "scared of February"!

Dan

PS...what general part of the country do you live in?

I live in PA near Philadelphia.

Pura...I was wondering because of your comment about August...I had visions of Louisiana or Texas! I didn't realize it got so bad in Philly during August!

LoL! I don't think I could stand it in LA or TX. It does get really bad here in the summer but this year has been okay. Mostly rain and in the 80s some humid days. That's why I'm afraid of next month. *fingers crossed*
