Welcome to Possum Junction, Indiana.

Somewhere between Evansville and Louisville on Gethsemane Church Road, there is the remains of Possum Junction. At a crossroad, a few abandoned buildings and rusted cars are all that remains. The last building to show any signs of life was the General Store...even it is closed now. A teenagers growing up in Possum Junction must have come here to meet their friends before they left more exciting venues. At the Possum Junction General Store...one could order a pizza or wings while picking up some night crawlers for the fishing hole and gassing up the truck...now that is full service!

As I was taking the picture, I heard a voice over my shoulder..."that ud be a good beness for somebody to buy"....I turned to a man on a backhoe..."there's been 5 or 6 people stop there just since I've been here". I nodded, got back in the Subaru and drove off...leaving Possum Junction just as I had found it. As I looked in my rear view mirror...someone pulled into the Possum General Store parking lot. I thought to myself...what a great episode for the Twilight Zone.

Haha - you mean to tell me that you're not interested in buying Possum Junction? Come on Dan... where's your imagination. Just think of the possibilities :)

You can find stores like this ALL over our Northern parts of Vermont :)

Dan - scratch that last comment. I realized after that if I change my url address, it will cause way too many issues :)

I may do it in the near future but certainly not tonight.

That would be a good setting for a sci-fi movie. Very Twilight Zone. Cool photo.

Alabama Heather...
I felt like I was in one of those towns set up for an Atomic Blast! Everything perfectly arranged to look real but somehow...and then the guy on the backhoe brought me back to reality!

Septembermom...that is how I felt. I have been in those places before...a kind of Twilight Zone is the only way I can describe it.

No, you're great, Dan. I was just running in circles last night, trying to figure something out and had made a note to you about it...then changed my mind and thought I should catch up.

Nevermind :)

What a cool store!

I understand with how busy you are, things have been crazy in my life lately too. :) I feel terrible I am barely on my blog, let alone enough to keep up right now!

I spend about 15 minutes doing the daily photos, and that's it.

Thank you for the comment, I understand, I'm in that boat too, except I can't seem to find my oar!

Heehe. That sounds funny but being from Georgia I know of what you speak. There's a million of them once you get out of the cities. They all look and feel alike no matter what state they are in. Something funny about that once you think about it. Perhaps they are alien space beings and those are their ships.

Great photo as usual.

Take some time off. I know what you mean about time, my friend.

Jen,

I have the oar but no boat...maybe we should exchange! I think we all find ourselves in this panic now and then. It has been crazy!

Have you ever seen the movie, Wrong Turn? Be careful Dan...

This kind of reminds me of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Café...

Dan Felstead said...

Dawn Treader...yes it does...however at the whistle stop cafe...you couldn't get worms with your Pizza!

Possum Junction - I love it! I have written a series of children's stories about a character named Posie Opossum - I never thought about having her live in Possum Junction. Way cool!

Dan you find the greatest treasures to take picture of - I am constantly amazed!

Dan Felstead said...

Bobbi, so many times the images are not that extraordinary, it is just the thoughts I have as I take the picture!

Vermont will be here waiting for you when you get here :)

Vermont Heather...I am sure you can answer this for me...Today, we had pancakes...with 100% Maple syrup. On the ingredients it only list "maple syrup". Is there literally nothing in true maple syrup other than the sap? I know it doesn't come out of the tree like it is in the bottle??? Pardon my naive ignorance for asking!
