Exerpt from "The Spider and the Fly"...

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again." ...............

As I had mentioned earlier this week, My son Zach and I went on a photographic trek last weekend. Today, tomorrow and Sunday I am posting images that Zach took. I was impressed with his "eye". His attention to detail is quite different from me...I tend to look more at the big picture...he sees the smaller pieces of life. I like the contrast to my style so for a change of pace this will be an all Zach weekend...Enjoy.

Wow. What a find! A spider on its web. Great shot.

Thanks Lly...I enjoy watching from the safety of a lens...but other than that...I HATE spiders!

Good God man! Warn a girl before you post something like that! I couldn't even scroll down because my hand kept fumbling on the mouse and my eyes were glued to the screen, like staring at a horrible car crash! *shudder*

I can't even remember why I came over here.

Oh, right ... it was to send kudos for your tomato win at PPP. I love your war stories. It breaks my heart to think you write them from experience. You probably don't hear it often enough, but I want to thank you and all your brothers in arms for what you have done, and what you continue to do, for the love of your country and fellow man. God bless.

Monica! I didn't mean to freak you out! Sorry about that!!!

Also I have not checked PPP but I will...thanks for the heads up. However, I must tell you that the "Tomato" story was just that...not from personal experience. It is just something that popped into my head when I saw the image.

This is a terrific picture in a horrible kind of way!

I saw a HUGE spider the other day, I thought what a great picture, well I was all set and then it moved, I jumped, almost dropped my camera!
So far this month, I've been zapped by an electric fence, stepped in a cow pattie, and braved a nest of bees. I'm not pressing my luck!
I HATE spiders!
Your son has a great eye!
Sunny :)

Sunny!!! You had better stay at home and inside this weekend!

I closed my eyes this time when I opened your blog and only opened my eyes a tiny crack so I could click on the comment link! I'm taking deep breaths right now to calm myself. I absolutely hate spiders. Can you tell?

I could have sworn that your much earlier profile text said you were a military boy and your old picture implied that too. Perhaps I was wrong. Regardless, that was a beautiful story and I'm sure there are many who relate to it.

PS. My verification word is "imbille" which I initially read as imbicile. *snort* Figures!

Monica!!! Don't worry about it. No big deal...I just appreciate your kind comments on the narrative. So many times it is hard to discern if someone is serious or not...that is the problem with the written word and no body language to gauge with.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by again!

He has either learned a great deal from you, or he has an uncanny natural talent! This is really beautiful!
I'm not a big spider person, but this is really outstanding.

Shabby: I'm his girlfriend. I'm gonna go with a little of both, talent and a decent teacher. He's majoring in radio/TV production and if you think Zach's still shots are great, you should see some of the videos he's done for school. He's ridiculous, and he makes it look easy.

All right, Danny, I'm done fawning over your kid for a few minutes now, so no need to lose your lunch. :p

Leah! Welcome aboard!! "Decent Teacher"....how about "Fabulous"...Just kidding of course. Tell Zach to hop on and leave some comments about his work this weekend. The readers of the blog would love to hear from him.

Looks like the gift runs in the family. Great shot.

I'm no fan of spiders either... but I'm kind of all right just glancing very quickly at a photo... as long as it's not moving... Goot shot, Zach!

Dan Felstead said...

Tricia...I will tell Zach thanks for you. I think he got it through osmosis...poor guy has had thousands of pics taken of him over the years!

Dawn Treader...I feel the same way abut spiders. Zach showed me a you tube video yesterday of a the most hideous spider I have ever seen...actually two spiders. I won't even go into it here. But I can't get it out of my mind!

Haha, I'll try and get him to leave a few words. It's really good to see his creative work out here. Writing, photos, whatever, he often seems reluctant to share it. Talent-wise, he has nothing to shy from. Must be the amount of his self and soul that he so obviously puts into everything. That'd make *anyone* feel vulnerable.

You've got quite the following here! As if that's a surprise... we toldja you were good at this stuff! I'm really glad you finally started getting it out to an international audience.

I only just started my new blog, so there's not a ton of traffic just yet, but I've put you on my blogroll so that maybe, in time, a few more people will stop by your way. Have an awesome weekend.

Hahaha, the mental image of you freaking out over that Youtube vid! Too funny. I'll have to ask him to send me the link. Call me weird but I tend to like spiders actually, as long as they are not a species that can hurt me, and don't invade my space. And they're useful. I'd rather have a spider nearby than be overrun with insect pests!

Because I love your blog, I did look at this picture!! You know I hate spiders but your wonderful eye still made me take a quick look. Good job as always :)

Shabbygirl...thanks for the kind words..I will pass them on. I am not a spider person either but it was an interesting shot with the depth of the web...almost looks like a tunnel.

Thanks Leah for the link. I am going to visit your blog as well.

Leah...I guarantee you that if he shows you that video...you will never forget it. I felt things crawling all over me while I watched it.

Septembermom...that is the highest compliment you have ever paid me! To struggle thorough an image of a creepy spider to visit the blog!

I appreciate it.

Hate spiders, hate spiders, hate spiders!! Or insects of any kind for that matter. I have quite a few here in the house, big ones. I keep my Raid handy. But I'm impressed with Zach's skill and bravery for getting that close to one. Nice shot.
