I posted about a month ago relaying a visit to a Bed and Breakfast shortly after Zach left home and we were empty nesters. Then conversation was difficult having not adjusted to the our new "normal" as yet.

Our anniversary was September 30th and there has now been enough time lapsed for us to adjust and this weekend we revisted a Bed and Breakfast...much different now with our new independence. We stayed in Femme Osage, Missouri. A community that Daniel Boone settled in 1797 (see link above). Today, there are about 4 or 5 homes, a general store, church, historic graveyard and one Bed and Breakfast. We were in heaven! So much to tell you about this area and share some photos along the way. No cell phone service, no internet...truly just magnificent farms, small communities along narrow winding roads, streams and the sense that God was truly walking with us as we explored the countryside.

This particular photo is of one of the homes in Femme Osage. This was Saturday morning, the first frost of the year at 31 degrees. The stream running though the property was still relatively warm with the summer runoff and wasn't ready for a frost. I was transfixed looking at and feeling the steam rise from the warm waters flowing. Not a sound was to be heard, as the first rays of the morning sun rose over the hills to the East.

Miles and miles of magical roads to take us on what seemed to be our own private tour of Autumn's leaves during this peak weekend.

Rebecca...thanks and again the stream seems to pull me to it...wherever there is a stream...I will spend time there!

Looks lovely! The change-of-season seems to be almost exactly at the same stage as here... Since my move last year I live much closer to our river than I did before, I like that... On fine mornings this autumn I've watched the steam/mist on the water, too. (In my own opinion got some really good pictures again this Sunday, some of which can be found on both my blogs...)
