Mountain streams take on a whole new life in Autumn. Just before they freeze over with the whites of Winter...the trees give them their colors as they shed them...giving their leaves one last chance to shine. The leaves will be carried downstream for miles spreading the orange and yellow carpet for miles from where they fell. After the lifeblood has finally run it's course, the leaves wither and sink to the bottom...waiting for the frost...then the onslaught and must then wait until next spring to begin anew.

Beautiful. ;^)
I would like to be sitting right there on the side...listening to the chatter of the brook as it tumbles over the rocks.

There is one that I pass every single day, twice actually, when driving the school bus, Dan. It's more like a brook but there is not one day that it doesn't shout out at me for attention - tucked below, behind the tree's with roaring waters flowing over the rocks.

I WILL - some day (hopefully sooner than later) find my way there with some extra time just to admire it with my canon :)

Cynthia...I know you have written before on your blog about your love of streams...we share that same feeling. They are so peaceful and relaxing.

Heather...please do! There is nothing like having the time to spend by a stream...and wanting to take pictures of it....is a great excuse!

I love the movement and colors in your picture. I can see the Autumn leaves being whisked down stream and hear the water rushing over the rocks.
I remember using stepping stones to cross a small stream, I should say slippery stepping stones...that water was cold!

Sunny...I have memories like that as well and you are right...slippery and cold....emphasis on "cold"!

Mersad...thanks. This was a six exposure HDR. That way I was able to get the color depth and intricate water patterns.

Dan, this is gorgeous. I need a mountain vacation so bad right now. The sound of water over rocks, the crunch of leaves under my feet, a cool breeze rustling the leaves overhead.... *sigh*

Maybe one day soon...
