To those who have followed the blog over the past year...you know I have an ongoing love affair with porches...porches of all kinds...small intimate ones, sprawling grandiose ones...porches of all kinds.

To the outsider, a porch is an invitation to interact with the residents...to the insider, they are a window to the world just beyond the sidewalk. You can imagine my excitement when I saw this house at first sunrise sitting high on a hill on our trip to Missouri. A DOUBLE PORCH! What could be better! Behind me lay the intimate Osage Valley still silhouetted against the new orange morning sun. To be able to sit on either porch in the morning or at sunset and take in the view would be a dream come true for me.

Dan, I'm going to have to win the lottery if you keep posting all of these "dream-homes" of mine....

My love for porches is right up there with my love for barns. How lucky to have two plus that wonderful picket fence. A lovely house with great roof lines.

What a lovely house it is, I also love porches and verandahs, they do look welcoming. Such a nice place to sit on a hot summer's day with a glass jug of homemade lemonade with ice to share with family or friends, or some tea and cake on a cooler afternoon, so many possibilities.
You certainly have some grand houses there in the USA.
Loved you greenhouse post as well Dan, a rainforest microcosm contained in a glass house. :) ♡

Oh I love that too. Especially with the right climate attached to it... It's snowing here today ;)

Sunny...that is one thing I really liked about this house...the roof lines. I like the way the gables have their own spaces!

.....not one, but two beautiful wrap-around porches. I liek the person who designed that house!

Well... one minute snow, the next minute rain again, has kind of been the theme of the day... And that is not really unusual for the time of year. Snow coming to "stay" though rarely happens this early (not here in the south anyway). But... the porch & balcony season is long over...!

Dawn Treader thanks for the update. It sounds like that in between time of the year before the hardcore winter sets in.
