Aspens tall and straight are one of the most stately shrouds covering the Rockies.

On a trip to Vail a couple of years ago, the white barked Aspens were in the transition from Summer to Autumn. Enough leaves had dropped to expose their beautiful white bark that spotted the mountainsides with splashes of white, black, gold and green like a watercolor painting.

I shot the image looking across a valley into the deeps woods but it could have been taken any number of different places all along the mountain during that time of year.

I love trees Dan and these aspens are exceptionally beautiful, what a lovely photo, the colours of the leaves and the spotted bark are so pretty. ♡

I thought these were birch trees when I first saw the photo! (we have a lot of those, birches I mean)

Dianne...Aspens and birch are beautiful trees...quite common in the mountains but I never tire of seeing them with their white bark.

LLY...that is what is so beautiful besides their white bark is their stature.

Dawn Treader...I think they are both very similar trees ( http://basineducation.uwex.edu/woodland/stands/aspen.htm )

Growing up in the mountains has given me a life-long love for aspens. There is nothing like their whisper as they shimmer in the canyon breeze. It's like a song.
;^) I can stop and imagine it now and be instantly transported.

Cynthia...What a great description. That is so true...when the wind blows the leaves...it DOES sound like a whisper from nature. Thanks for the visual and audible description.

Your lovely picture reminds me of a painting I almost purchased several years ago. Aspens are such beautiful trees, they look similar to the White Birches we have around here but I think Aspens are taller.
Enjoy your weekend.
Sunny :)

Thanks Sunny...yes I think Aspens are a larger tree...other than that ...they look the same.
