Space...The final frontier....

I think I am losing touch with reality! Two days ago, I spoke of Aliens observing our culture...yesterday...I gave a good dose of paranoia....Today I am posting the very first pictures ever taken aboard an Alien Mother-ship.

OK...I have slapped my self back to a somewhat level state of mind! First of all I need to let you know that the images are not color enhanced. If anyone has been to the Detroit airport...you can identify with these pictures.

I had to fly to Detroit on Tuesday. Knowing that I was going to have a 4 hour layover, I remembered to bring my camera. I have been to and through the Detroit airport many times but without cameras. The pictures are of an underground tunnel between two different concourses. I will have to say the city planners did a magnificent job of making an airport a fun place to visit. There is nothing any more boring than walking from one flight to the next surrounded by concrete walls and elevator music but Detroit has outdone itself. Once you descend the escalators you find yourself in a Disney World like reality with music and lights shows matched to each other. The colors constantly fade from blue to purple to orange...well the whole spectrum accompanied by sometimes a driving beat and sometimes soft harpsichord or flute music.

To stand off to the side and look/listen...the first impression is that you are peering into a Hollywood "Close Encounters of the third kind" set.

Tomorrow 2 or 3 more photos of the the airport above this tunnel.

A friend of mine that travels a lot on business told me about the light tunnel, but I had never seen it. Very cool indeed.
Do you think it is calming for nervous fliers?
Sunny :)

OK, when I saw the title I thought now you're really getting desperate for new scenery... LOL

Seriously: Very cool pictures! I would think it must give an unreal feeling to walk there. I have not even been to an airport in 15 years (not to mention how long it's been since I was actually on a plane). I'm getting the feeling it is I who am out of touch with reality ;)

Sunny...walking the tunnel does take your mind away from the noise and activity just above you!

DTW Scott!!WOW...I am honored that you took the time to leave a comment...what a treat! At first I thought...this really can't be someone from Detroit Metro but I followed your link and found myself on the Airport home page! Thank you so much for touching base and I love your tunnel! I will be posting more pictures tomorrow.

I was there in September when I flew from Daytona to ATL to Detroit to Toledo. Unfortunately, my camera was in my bag.
I thought the whole thing was gorgeous! One of the nicer airports, too.

Heather...it sure makes those long airport walks from one gate to the other much more3 enjoyable!

Jean...I am glad you have seen it! It is pretty impressive...unlike the long tunnels in Houston or Atlanta!

Isn't that nice of them to think of frazzled, hurried, travelers who need to be soothed.
