This was taken on the same Sunday evening as the art gallery in yesterday's post. On the way back to the car I paused for a moment to listen. No sound, no birds, no traffic...just a surreal portrait of peace and solitude.

The weekend had passed and everyone was now inside with thoughts turning to the work week. The weekend chores finished, children off to bed for the early rise to school...one last respite of relaxation for couples to reconnect before the grinder begins again tomorrow morning.

It was dark by the time I reached the car, loaded the camera and tripod and pulled onto Main and headed home. I think it's time for me to step off the treadmill and spend more time back in that "Mayberry" community that I saw in the rear view mirror.

It seems Rebecca has taken my thoughts and put them into words for me already with her comment ;-)
Beautifully composed - tranquil. I fancy taking a wander through that image :-)

Are those brick sidewalks? Very nice.
In my late teens, I used to dread that evening light. There was something too lonely about it. I guess when I became comfortable with myself, that light became peaceful.

Shabbygirl...you captured a felling I had every Sunday years ago...When I was in college...this time of night on a Sunday evening was never a good time for me. It meant the a usually great weekend had passed and with the twilight came the realization that tomorrow was another school day and it always seemd to enhance the lonliness of being away from home.

Wonderful capture of a surreal moment. Those can be the moments of reflection and inspiration. That's a kind of solitude filled with potential if you're open to it.

I love the brick sidewalk and the lamp post...please forgive me, I have an overwhelming urge to run a stick along the fence!
