I was fortunate to experience the love of one set of grandparents when I was a youngster. My other grandmother was, for whatever reason, not the grandmotherly kind.
Sadly I will never experience the joy of being a grandmother.
The road of life takes many twists and turns.
Sunny :)
I'm sorry you never experienced the feeling of joy and love that comes from a close relationship with your grandparents. I was blessed with grandparents who have gone out of their way to be an active part of my life. They are truly a big, big part of my heart. I can't imagine it any other way. And I still miss my grandfather dearly.
There's something about this photo that just feels good. The lighting.
I have no memories of grandparents. I've always felt a little wistful listening to other people talk about them too.
After learning so much raising my own kids, I can't wait to be a grammie!
There is a "magic" quality to this photo; would be a great illustration for a story book.
I do have memories of all four grandparents. My paternal grandmother was the one I felt closest to, she lived until I was in my early 20s.
Is true, the relationship with grandparents is special as this wonderful picture!!!
:-)
Oh, Dan...this is beautifully shared with us. Grandparents are an amazing blessing to their grandchildren. It hurts me to think that my boys will not have that any longer. They have grandparents, but much like your grandfather, they really aren't the nurturing, warm type. Even though they live very close to us, we see them only a handful of times throughout the year.
My mother was THE golden Grandma. Yes, she was. Boy, I miss her ♥ Yeah.
Heart warming <3
Sunny...I don't know what your situation is but I can tell you that my parents thought they would never be a grandparent. We were married 14 years with no luck...then we adopted...keep the faith.

Heather I thought of you when I wrote the post...I remember when you lost your grandfather...that was a relationship you can cherish forever.
Dan
Shabby...I think you would make a great grandmother from the little bit I know of you...hope it comes to fruition soon!
Dan
Dawn Treader...you are lucky to have had the experience...I envy you.
Dan
Amatamari...sounds like you too have had the great luxury of knowing your grandparents.
Dan
Heather...the great thing is that your boys were old enough to remember her warmth and caring.

Thanks S. Barbie...for your kind words.
