Generations

There is something that I have missed in my life. The magical relationship with a grandparent.

Many of you that follow the blog have been able to experience a closeness with a grandparent. Over the the past year and one half, I have read on many of your blogs about the pain and sense of loss when a grandparent has passed. The grandfather that I knew was not that enamored with young children which I was at the time. I wasn't that close with my two grandmothers either. I have always envied the emotion that is shared when a story is told about a grandparent...about days shared and wisdom learned...

If you are one that remembers with fondness your grandparents ... cherish those memories...memories that we all are not lucky enough to share.

I was fortunate to experience the love of one set of grandparents when I was a youngster. My other grandmother was, for whatever reason, not the grandmotherly kind.
Sadly I will never experience the joy of being a grandmother.
The road of life takes many twists and turns.

I'm sorry you never experienced the feeling of joy and love that comes from a close relationship with your grandparents. I was blessed with grandparents who have gone out of their way to be an active part of my life. They are truly a big, big part of my heart. I can't imagine it any other way. And I still miss my grandfather dearly.

There's something about this photo that just feels good. The lighting.
I have no memories of grandparents. I've always felt a little wistful listening to other people talk about them too.
After learning so much raising my own kids, I can't wait to be a grammie!

There is a "magic" quality to this photo; would be a great illustration for a story book.

I do have memories of all four grandparents. My paternal grandmother was the one I felt closest to, she lived until I was in my early 20s.

Oh, Dan...this is beautifully shared with us. Grandparents are an amazing blessing to their grandchildren. It hurts me to think that my boys will not have that any longer. They have grandparents, but much like your grandfather, they really aren't the nurturing, warm type. Even though they live very close to us, we see them only a handful of times throughout the year.

My mother was THE golden Grandma. Yes, she was. Boy, I miss her ♥ Yeah.

Sunny...I don't know what your situation is but I can tell you that my parents thought they would never be a grandparent. We were married 14 years with no luck...then we adopted...keep the faith.

Heather...the great thing is that your boys were old enough to remember her warmth and caring.
