Curious visitor

Gulls may be a common everyday occurrence to those living on or near a coast but to a landlocked Midwesterner....Gulls are always a sight I look forward to when visiting the ocean or large bodies of water.

I suppose they have gotten used to the presence of humans since they are often bold enough to land directly in front of you and stare you down until you feed them. How could I turn this face down?

They can be quite aggressive among themselves often fighting for the small amount of food being doled out by the visitors. The title of this post is Curious visitor....I...not the gull am the curious visitor.

When I moved from Cape Cod to Idaho, I knew I was going to miss the ocean...then the first time I went to WalMart three seagulls landed in the parking lot. That really was a big surprise!

Very cool picture - but aggressive doesn't even BEGIN to describe these shameless mooches!! As you said, they've gotten so used to constant supply of food at the beach, they'll swoop right down to your blanket and wait. But of course, if you feed one, the whole flock comes ready to fight for their share of crumbs.

Man - I wish I was at the beach, instead of sitting in this cubicle on the gray rainy day :(

Even living most of my life close to the ocean, I never get tired of them. I find them quite beautiful. Love the double exposure!!!

Wow, that's close. The sound of gulls are a sign of spring and reminder of summer to me. I live inland about an hour from the coast but some gulls come up along the river in the spring and hang around for the summer. I've not come close enough to one yet to catch them with the camera though.

Shabbygirl...I am sure this was a common occurrence for you...I know Arizona is a beautiful state but I bet you miss the ocean from time to time.
