Raw Material to Work of Art

I posted an overview of the Quilt Guild yesterday and today some closeups of some of the finished pieces.

The first image is displayed at the Guild but I believe they are tools of the weaver instead of a quilter. Most of you viewing the blog will know more about this than me! However to outsiders such as myself...we can marvel at the detail of the finished pieces.

For me...the patchwork quilt was the most interesting. there are stitched designs encompassing the range of human activities from computers to snowmen to names of loved ones...I am sure each of these carry a special meaning to the maker of this quilt. They are more than quilts...they have been transformed into works of art.

Wonderful pictures of gorgeous quilts. I have an old Victorian Crazy Quilt packed away, it is in need of repair and I can't find anyone that does that kind of work :(

These are all wonderful pictures of wonderful pieces of art. My mother did some quilting but mostly smaller items like on cushion covers.
