The loss of a friend......

I lost my best friend today.  Al my life…literally…I have had a dog.  There have been only two times when the loss of a dog has been devastating for me.  A German shepherd named Geneve, a dog I had in college and today’s loss of Scooter…a Wheaton Terrier.  At almost 13 she beat the odds on her normal lifespan but she still left too soon.  That cold nose will no longer be poking out of the crack in the door when I get home, that smile that began with the wag of a tail and moved like earthquake shockwaves all along her body until her whole body was shaking from happiness will no longer be there.  That “Wheaton Run” (you can see it on you tube) that made me want to brace for the collision when she bounced off my chest is gone.  I know, I have lost before….parents, other friends and loved ones….time soothes the wound and leaves only the good memories…but that does not make this time any easier.
Thanks for listening…I guess this is my therapy.

Sorry about your loss, Dan. I think I recall one or two of those pics from your blog in the past. Let the emotions take their time... And hold on to the good memories! ♥

Oh, I'm so, so sorry, Dan! It's just so sad, isn't it? You'll feel that emptiness for a long time, I know. And, aren't we so lucky to have had them with us as long as we did? Hugs, friend.

Another blog friend (Og at Neanderpundit)just posted about losing his best buddy the other day.
I've felt that pain too many times.

My heart goes out to you.

Sorry, Dan. It's one thing knowing logically that the pain will diminish but that doesn't help emotionally, does it. All the best, John

I've got tears in my eyes reading of your loss of Scooter. I'm so sorry. Prayers that your heart is at peace because of the good years together. He'll be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you, as will all our beloved pets.

I am so sorry for your loss dear Dan, it is always heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet.
I do hope the feeling of emptiness and the pain of loss will pass in time. Nothing I can say now will numb the pain and sadness but I hope it eases with each day and you can think of the happy memories and times spent with your friend Scooter.
Warm hugs, Dianne

I'm so sorry to hear about Scooter, Dan. I know that nothing we can say will ease your pain, but I hope it helps to know that your friends are thinking of you as you try to heal the hurt in your heart. Hugs from Nova Scotia.
