Gourds have served man for centuries. Food content, bottle, dipper, flask, vase and decorations. Whether primitive or advanced civilization...the versatile gourd has survived. How many other gifts of nature can meet this criteria?

I am going to take a picture of one and share it; something my mother made once upon a time :o). Thank you for reminding me, Dan.

Heather, I would love to see the picture. The gourds picture was inspired by a talk I heard from a ranger guide in the Smokies at an old schoolhouse. She ran through all the different uses of gourds over the centuries...very interesting.

Dan, the photograph is amasing.

We used gourds as lamps many years ago, I still remember the beauty of a candle light flicking in the dark. Good old days.. *sign*

Sunny,

Thanks for offering another use of the gourd. I am guessing they were filled with wax...great use for a gift of nature!
