Yesterday's post was taken in a creek-bed just behind the log cabin in this image. We had followed the creek bed for about 2 miles and noticed that the trees had thinned out just above the creek bank. When we climed out of the creek area, we were greeted with this clearing in the middle of heavy woods with no way in our out other than the creek.
We marveled at how the early settlers could build a home and create a homestead with nothing other than the crudest of tools. No doubt...when this was built...the priorities and lifestyles were quite different from today's prefab existence.

I wonder what the early pioneers would think of the world today.
I really like the design of the old fence.
