We have those here too...they are beautiful and they do look like a hummingbird.

They are amazing! I've only seen a couple here in the 6 yrs I've been here. The first time was in a Walmart garden area. I followed him for about a half hour! The second one was a couple of years later in my backyard. They don't seem to pay much attention to people either. Great shot Dan!

These elusive creatures are definitely fascinating!!! I have been enamored by their mystery since the first time I saw several buzzing around my moon-flowers at dusk on a summer evening years ago. They move so fast that I did not ever know if I could capture a photo! But this year in April, I finally did~~~
