My Dad...

Whenever I post images, I always try to post a variety of subjects so hopefully you can find one that is of interest to you. Please indulge me a bit image space today for a personal post.

If you look at last Wednesday's post, it is of an elderly man that prompted me to remember family. I had set it up to post ahead of time and last Wednesday it came up on the blog. Little did I know that on the next morning, my Dad would pass away.

I fully realize that you may think that you did not know him...but I would guess that you actually did. During our lives, we have met someone who by chance or by way of a brief, passing introduction left an imprint on our minds. You can't put your finger on it but something about that person....a magnetism, a kind act, a sincere interest in your life or a meeting of the eyes as you passed by that you wanted to be able to spend more time with that person. That was my Dad.

A sense of humor the size of Texas...not a comedienne type of humor, not a "I have to be the center of attention" type of humor but a natural belly laughing presence when he was near.

I was blessed to have him as my mentor, my close friend, my hero for 62 of his 87 years. .....I'll miss you Dad...........

Thank you Mary. I don't know if it is "protocol" to post something like this. But I felt driven to honor my Dad and his life.

Oh Dan. I wish I could give you a huge hug! I loved the narrative you posted along with this news. I'm happy that your Dad was one to create belly laughs in others, especially you, throughout many of his years.
My boys' paternal grandma passed a couple of days ago too. Sad week, but full of encouraging memories.
My thoughts and wishes of strength to get through these next few weeks are surely sent to you and your family!
I hope this will post. I've not had much luck with that lately!

Dan you are back, and you been blogging for some time now. Good to see you back, on the other hand sorry to hear about your Dad and thank you for sharing your beautiful images. When I did presentation of my father in law on his passing, I use the same type of image, him walking away. Excellent choice of images. Remember he is in good hands now too. Anna :)

Dan, I'm so sorry for your loss. I was scrolling back in your blog today to catch up... I'm glad I did. I missed this post last week because then my own father was in hospital... and then passed away last Saturday, five days ago. So we're probably both in much the same kind of chaos right now! I'm taking a break from my Picture Book blog, but I'm trying to keep up my blog Beyond the Lone Islands Love, Monica

Shabbygirl....I am sorry to hear about the passing of the boy's grandmother. I will tell the boys the same thing someone told me...cliche as it might be, time is a great healer but right now it is the time for grieving and learning to move on with our lives. Thanks you for the words of support.

Anna, first of all thanks for hanging in there while I was gone and taking the time to return!

He is indeed in good hands now. Thanks for reminding me of that. The picture of dad walking away was taken a couple of years ago but when I was looking for a picture to post...it just summed up his exit for me. Always doing as much as he could to remain active and fishing was his passion.

Dawn Treader....I am really sorry about your dad. I know he had been in failing health as had my dad. If I can be of any support in any way...just let me know. We both need time to get our heads straight again. Thanks for thinking of me and stay in contact...I will be praying for you.
